Access
The surgeries have suitable access for all disabled patients, with a special provision available in Bryson Street for patients who have difficulty climbing the stairs.
Medical Students
We are a teaching practice for undergraduate medical students from Queen’s University.
At periods during the year a medical student may be attached to the practice to accompany the doctor during surgeries, home visits and clinics.
Patients will always be informed when a student is present and their permission obtained beforehand.
ZERO TOLERANCE
The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse, and the Practice has the right to remove violent patients from their list with immediate effect. This is in order to safeguard Practice staff, patients and other persons. Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person’s safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient’s medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.
In situations whereby patients are disruptive and display aggressive and/or intimidating behaviour and refuse to leave the premises, staff are instructed to dial 999 for Police assistance, and charges may then be brought against these individuals.
Unacceptable behaviour includes:
Violence
Excessive noise e.g. recurrent loud or intrusive conversation or shouting
Threatening or abusive language involving swearing or offensive remarks
Racial, homophobic or sexual remarks
Aggressive, forceful tone and/or language that upsets staff
Malicious allegations relating to members of staff, other patients or visitors
Offensive gestures or behaviours
Abusing alcohol or drugs on hospital premises
Threats or threatening behaviour
Theft.
Please note this list is not exhaustive.
